Service ScheduleOpen Minds, Open Hearts, Open Doors Within this website you will find an amazing variety of ministry programs. Worship, however, is the primary reason for which our church exists. First United Methodist Church has a long, rich tradition of worship. We currently provide three distinct experiences:
First Up 8:30 a.m. - Great Hall
First Up Morning Celebration is the earliest of the four Sunday worship services. Beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Great Hall, First Up blends classic and contemporary elements of worship in an informal, family-friendly atmosphere. Choral music is provided by the Wesley Choir, and every service includes a special time for children. Communion is served twice monthly.
Classic Worship 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. - Sanctuary
The tradition of classic worship at First Church is strong and rich. The resources of historic hymns, scripture, prayer, and preaching that strives to be both faithful to the gospel and engaging to the contemporary mind all play a part. The strong music ministry of First Church with stirring organ music, periodic Choral Masterwork Sundays, and the regular presence of the church's noted Chancel Choir adds a crucial element to the mix.
The Open Door 11:00 a.m. - Buskirk-Chumley Theater
This contemporary service uses modern technology and up-to-date language to bring God's message to God's people. The Common Ground Band leads participants in a wide variety of music, including pop, soul, and jazz. Dress is casual, and the atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly. Grab a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and get ready for a spiritual experience relevant to your life. The Buskirk-Chumley Theater is located 1/2 block west of the church on Kirkwood Avenue. |
